We offer fewer poetry classes so we haven’t usually had a term guide (like those we have for fiction or nonfiction), but our poetry classes this term deserve it. Our LA poetry classes also meet at some pretty cool venues: Book Show in Highland Park, Center for the Arts in Eagle Rock, and the world wide web.
If you have poems you like but don’t quite love, get them ready to share with the world in our two-day online seminar Re-Vision—Poetry with Elline Lipkin on July 13 and 20.
If you’d like to read, analyze, and discuss contemporary poetry from women, people of color, and queer writers as models and inspiration for cultivating poems of resistance, persistence, and celebration, we’d suggest When We Were Seeds—Poetry for Current Times with Xochitl-Julisa Bermejo starting July 22 at Book Show in Highland Park.
If you’ve been wanting to write poetry based on your life, we recommend Kim Young’s workshop Translating Experience Into Art—A Generative Multi-Genre Workshop starting July 24 at the Center for the Arts Eagle Rock.
Feel free to contact us at info@writingworkshopsla.com if you want any additional guidance. See you in class!
